This was my first towing experience, well apart from driving a tractor with a trailer in a field at a rather sedate speed!

Initially the dealer hitched up the caravan and connected the electrics under my watchful eye, and I was reasonably confident after we tested the lights were working. I drove away cautious but intrigued by this new feeling.

We made good progress having at first to drive down a single lane country road to join the main road, even missing the turning for our campsite didn’t prove much of an issue.

The next day though, we had a much longer journey to make, taking in a number of roundabouts, two lane dual carriage way, some tight bends and gradients AND I’d been the one to hitch up this time! So after not that long I wanted to pull over and check we were all attached correctly, the breakaway cable wasn’t dragging on the ground…it wasn’t.

We safely made it back in one piece, so roll on the next journey, yes I’ll have regressed a little by then, but at least I’ll know I can do it!
